NickToons, the animated project of Nickelodeon and Paramount Pictures is being drafted gradually, revealing the pronounced intention of creating a throwback to the 90s and incidentally bringing a revival of the Nickelodeon cartoons. Titles such as Hey Arnold!, Ren & Stimpy, Aaahh! Real Monsters, Rugrats, Rocko’s Modern Life and Angry Beavers are set to emerge together in a live-action crossover film not long from now.
The reboot of 90s cartoons is more than a necessity for the 90s nostalgia hype, which has been more or less neglected since the boom of recent spin-offs.
Russell Hicks, president of development and content at Nickelodeon added for Variety:
‘We are looking at our library to bring back ideas, shows that were loved, in a fresh new way.’
Fortunately, according to The Tracking Board, the creators have no intention to revamp characters or couple them in an unfavorable manner. Exciting as it is, it’s obvious to mention that several other titles might just as well be added to the mash up, such as Catdog, Doug, As Told By Ginger and others, since the popular network had plenty of animated fun in store.
